This work is made based on a suicide note written by an otaku [nerd] boy of the same generation as the group members that Chim↑Pom found in Aokigahara – a sea of trees located at the base of Mt. Fuji which is well-known as a suicide spot – during the making of another work Wood Actor (2007). Te perfect scenery of the site of his suicide, absurd expressions, and his positive words dashed out in the suicide note. Shocked and lost for words, Chim↑Pom came to a conclusion that the incident could not be expressed through the theory of art, no matter how much discussion they made to develop it into a work. Consequently, they exhibited the tableau in the gallery space almost as it was, where they made a tiny white doll as expression of their “ambiguous feelings” and put it upon the noose that he supposedly used for hanging himself. Chim↑Pom gave the title TOMODACHI (Friend) to all these objects and the whole series of events. However, his body was never found at the site and the truth of his suicide remains unclear. 2007
